About me and this site

motivation and enthusiasmMy biggest passion in life is wilderness adventures. Countless wilderness trips have taught me how to love and enjoy the great outdoors we have.

Childhood in the woods

The woods and back country have always played an important part of my life. They were the playground of my childhood. As a boy, fishing was the favorite spare time occupation. Finding new fishing spots at some of the small lakes in the woods that were surrounding our home required a great number of hiking and camping trips. Still remember many of the trips. Great memories.

Wilderness trips and adventures . . .

As a teenager, however, interest shifted over to the hunting of small games. After leaving my teens behind, a new shift of interest took place. Now longer wilderness trips and expeditions are the main interest, mainly backpacking, canoeing or in the winter, cross country skiing trips. The peaceful feeling of being out in the wilderness far away from any civilization is really rewarding. This is something I will continue to do for the rest of my life, or at least as long as my legs will carry me. :)

Why I build this site

Most people in our modern society have never felt the joy and satisfaction of exploring the magnificent wilderness which surrounds us. My hope is that the "Wilderness Backpacking" website will inspire people to spend more time in the outdoors.

I also want to say that I appreciate all the encouragement and kind words that I have received from readers of this site. It means more than you can imagine. . . . . However, nothing makes me happier when someone tells me they have started to practice hiking or backpacking activities because they have visited this site.

Why build a website if no one will ever be able to find it?

When I decided to build this website I had no clue how to build a website. I just wanted to write about wilderness skills, and to reach as many readers as possible. Because a website without visitors is like a billboard in the desert, and the very best website is useless if no one can find it.

The reason you find this site is thanks to a tool called Site Build It! Without knowing anything about the technical aspects of website building the SBI process has taught and guided me how to build a highly visited site. All I had to bring to the table was my knowledge and passion for hiking and backpacking, and, of course, time and energy. :)

Maybe you have a passion, a specific knowledge, or a hobby you want to share with others? Check this page to find out!

Testimonials from other SBI users:

"What can I say? Life has never been better. Freedom is something that can't be paid for. It's not that I work less, I probably work more than I ever did, but I do it on my own terms. It doesn't feel like work at all. I am confident that I will never have to work for others again unless I want to!"

"I sat at my PC and just typed and typed. I knew absolutely nothing about the internet, websites, HTML, or anything... I just typed. The great thing about SBI is that they do all of the hard (and necessary) work for me. That frees up my time to do what I do best and love the most... write, teach, play, and learn."
